So, who looks smarter?

We are told in God’s Word that when we place our trust in God that He sends His Holy Spirit to live in us and that we are given special gifts.  I am glad God does this because I know I am a goober.  God even likes to use the weak so that everyone will know it is because of how great God is that the weak are able to do what they do.  Are you a follower of Jesus Christ?  If so, do you know how God has gifted you?

I got to hang out with someone the other day at the Teen Center.  We took a couple of pictures and I want you to help me out.  I think that maybe my special gift is “looking smart”.  What do you think?  Who looks smarter.  And you must read the post just below this before you leave a comment.  Remember to be nice.  Who looks smarter?

Encourage One Another!

This is not the same as the lesson last night for two reasons.  One, it is not as hot as last night!  Two, it is not the same one.  But, you can listen to the mp3 by clicking on the “i-life” to the left.  Do it.  Listen.  You can also listen to the scripture being read.

So one new thought on encouraging one another.  Why is it so easy to be sarcastic and put others down?  It seems to be easy to be a bully and make fun of people making them feel bad about themselves.  But, it seems to be difficult to help people and guide them in the right direction.  Why do you think its like that?

Track Meet

So I went to the track meet the other day in Kiowa.  Which reminded me of  the time when someone broke their leg doing hurdles.  Were you there?  I felt sorry for the runner.  Yikes!  The good news is that no legs were broken this time.

The only bad news at this event was the wind.  It made some of the events especially difficult.  On the west side of the track, we watched as runners ran directly into the wind.  Some of the runners had strange facial expressions as they pushed as hard as they could against the wind.  Some of them made such funny expressions I found myself contorting my face at weird angles too.  I don’t know why I do this, but I will blame it on my dad.  Thanks dad.

There were also runners who did not appear to try very hard.  There was one particular long distance runner that seemed to be telling stories to himself as he ran.  It seemed like he didn’t care how he placed or what his final time was.  I was reminded of Philippians 3:12-14 (hold cursor over reference).  For those of us who know and love God, we understand that we are not going to live on earth very long.  We have been called by God to forget those things which are behind us, hold us back, and push us down.  It could be the negative influence of certain friends;  it could be some bad choices we have made that haunt us;  or it could be wanting things that really do not matter and will eventually fade away.  Paul tells us in this section of the Bible that we should run like runners at a track meet.  We should keep our eyes on the finish line and run like we want to win.  So, if you see me making a funny face, I might just be running my race of life as hard as I can.  I hope to see you making some funny faces to as you strive to run your race has hard as you can.

Total Randomness

Warning:  YouTube contains many videos that are inapropriate and wrong.  Please only visit YouTube with caution and wisdom!

For those of you that went to the Rock & Worship Roadshow Tour you saw the Grab Bag music from Mercy Me.  Here is “I Will Survive ” by Mercy Me. . .

P.S.  Back in the day this was a fabuloso song.  You were just no cool if you did not know this song.  Today I realize that it was not important at all.  Are you trying to know all of the contemporary songs to impress those around you?  Are you making sure you have seen all of the new movies just so you can be cool?  Let us not live to impress other people, but to bring honor and glory to God!  (Sit back and enjoy some music from back in my day and imagine that we are sitting at the table together at Hutchinson High Cafeteria and enjoying a corn dog and chocolate milk.  Good times.)

Happy Easter!

There are numerous religions in the world.  There are millions of gods.  But there is only ONE true God!  As I celebrate Easter today I am reminded that there is proof that what I believe is true.  Jesus told his followers that He was going to die and that He would rise again.  They did not understand what He was saying and they were not ready for His death and unaware that He would defeat death by raising from the dead.

Today as Jesus followers went to His grave to perform the normal ceremonies on Jesus body they were surprised to find the body missing.  Unaware what was going on, the angels gave the world the news that has changed my life as well as millions of others.  The good news that Jesus Christ is alive.  Matthew 28:5-6 (hold cursor over reference) tells of that great story.  The Good News is not only that Jesus rose from the dead, but that He did this so that my sins can be forgiven.

What will you be doing to celebrate Easter?  I am going to relax and enjoy the family and thank God for His love?  There is some sadness because NASCAR is not racing this week!

Rock & Worship Roadshow Tour

Well, I had a great time at the concert!  I am sorry we did not make it to Laser Quest.  And then the Sports World was kind of ”okay”.  We will have to take another trip for Laser Quest this sumer.

Who would have thought that a group of 36 people could get along so well and get around so quickly?  My favorite parts were hanging out with friends and singing along to some of my favorite songs.  What did you like best about the concert?  Which pictures are your favorites?
