From My Favorite Devotional

I want to share just a few high points from my devotional today.

Admiration for Jesus’ message of love is almost universal.  In spite of all our admiration, though, it is rarely followed.  We have no trouble with the idea that we are to love each other – by our definition of love.  But Jesus raises the bar on love – His definition is the substance of this command.  We are to love each other just as He has loved us.
. . .we must find out how He loves us.
. . .John 13:5 & John 15:13. . .
. . .This is an extraordinary love. . .
. . .It isn’t natural for us.
. . .there is no remedy for our lovelessness other than the Living Vine bearing fruit through His branches.  He is the source.  Do you want greater love for others?  Bask in His love, and see what happens next.

BOOK REVIEW

Sex 180

by Chip Ingram

Amen! Finally, a book that lays it all out just how it is. Want to dig deep past the sayings “True Love Waits” and “Say No”? Past the purity rings and abstinence slogans? Want to learn how to live in a complete 180 from the world when it comes to sex? This book has it all! With statistics, true stories, comments from teens, and incredibly applicable scripture, Sex 180 digs into all aspects of relationships. Not only will this book show you God’s heart, it will help you line up your heart with His. Sex 180 acknowledges that we are all sexual by God’s creation and that sex is sacred and serious. It’s holding our generation accountable for our actions, and holding Christians responsible for change. It lays out all the steps to bring about a revolution. This book does a great job of presenting all the facts, then helping turn that head knowledge into a heart knowledge that can actually be lived out. Chip Ingram and Tim Walker keep the goals real and achievable. By developing convictions, weighing the consequences, pre-deciding, and getting accountable, this book gives an in-depth game plan for becoming or remaining sexually pure. I give this book two thumbs up! When it comes to books on relationships, Sex 180 is my number one recommendation! A must read! Absolutely excellent!

IS IT COLD?

Even though it is only the beginning of October I am getting COLD!  I run from the shower to jump into the warm bed.  I turn the shower on a little warmer.  Laura says I have a small temperature comfort zone and calls me a wimp.  I think she is very wrong and owes me an apology with some tears and even maybe a bacon cheeseburger or something.

Do you think it is cold?  I don’t mean super duper cold.  I just think it is normal cold.

I am glad God is in control and I can look forward to warmer weather in the spring.
