ARE YOU SICK?

I have been praying for a lot of Reality Check people that are sick.  And I am not just talking about gross and weird sick, I mean sick with the flu.  Are you sick?  How are you doing?  Leave a comment so that we can be praying for one another.

We all know that deep inside we are all sick.  We all know that ever persons life will end in death.  The Good News is that God has offered us eternal life with Him.  If you want to truly be well all you need to do is trust in God’s “flu shot”.  Jesus already made a flu shot that will heal our sickness.  I encourage you to trust in Jesus Christ and his cure for our sickness and then you can enjoy life eternal with Him.

Beauty?

by Sierra

Yesterday after school I was super tired! So I did the only logical thing and took a nap. I was scheduled to work at 6 that evening. Either my alarm didn’t go off or I shut it off unconsciously. I overslept and was woken up by a phone call at 5:58. YIKES! I threw on my sweat pants, grabbed my laptop and homework, car keys, a frozen chicken pot pie, and my netflix movie (I have a lot of free time at work) and I ran out the door. I arrived at work at 6:01….and no, I did not speed. Anyway, I clocked in and started walking to the back to clean. On my way I caught a glimpse of myself in one of the millions of mirrors at the Wellness Center. My hair was sticking out of my ponytail and the right side of my face was red from where it had been smushed against my pillow. I looked alot like a zombie. I had been in such a rush that I didn’t give a second thought to how I looked. This got me thinking about how much time people spend on their looks. After all, I had just spent no time getting ready, and there I was…in the same place and doing the same thing that I’d be doing no matter how much time I spent on my hair or clothes.

This rabbit trail led me to another thought. I contemplated the amount of time I spend getting ready for different events. For instance, I spend about 15-30 minutes getting ready for school, around 45 minutes to an hour when I get ready for church, and half of the afternoon getting ready for a prom or other special occasion. This circumstance help me refocus the time and money I spend on looks, and my motives behind trying to look my best.

On kind of a sidenote – What are your thoughts on “dressing up” for church? Do people still do that?
