2 announcements!

FIRST

The lock-in will begin on New Years Eve at 8:00 PM and end at 8:00 AM the next morning.  Everyone is asked to bring snacks and drinks for the entire group to use.

The guys & girls will meet at Reality Check Teen Center and at 12:15 AM the girls will go to CBF. Because it is a lock-in teens will not be allowed to come late or leave early without parental permission.

SECOND

Reality Check Youth Ministry is making some changes.  The blog will now only be for announcements.  The CD library & book library are both being closed.  The MP3 podcasts of lessons and MP4 of questions from the mailbox have been removed.  More changes are planned for the future and I will keep you informed.

My hope is that this will allow me more time and money to spend quality time with teens and be able to discuss God more in depth.  Stay tuned for more changes in the near future.

YES we will meet Tonight!

Some people have asked if Reality Check will be having its normal Wednesday meeting even though it is Christmas Eve Eve.  We for sure will be meeting tonight.  Hope to see you tonight at 6:45!

It’s Christmas time in the city

As Christmas day gets closer and closer “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”.  Okay, sorry I used that silly quote, but it is a good song.  The birth of Jesus is a reminder of how much God loves us and cares for us.  It is for that reason that at Christmas we see a lot of people giving to others and helping out others in need.  I have attached some pictures of people who are giving to others this Christmas season.

A small group of us gathered outside of White's to ring the bell and raise money for the local ministerial alliance and salvation army.

Me Or. . .God???

By Bethany B
I have wanted to be a missionary for as long as I can remember. But I am also the sort of person who, once they get their mind set on something, want it to happen-no matter what.  And that can be a bad thing when its God in control, not you or I.
I have been reading “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren and so far it’s a really good book. Today’s devotion was about how God is in control and only wants what’s best for us. Trusting God completely means having faith that He knows what is best for us-even when it’s not exactly our dreams and desires. It is not easy to trust God with my future when I know it might not include missions. However Hebrews 11 says without faith it is impossible to please God. The encouraging thing is God promises He has a good good good plan for our lives!
God wants to use us for great things, but we need to stop holding back. We need to stop using the excuses, “But I’m just a teenager,” and, “I will serve God latter.” It is time to trust God with all we are.
Let us be teenagers who are devoted to seeking the heart of God!!!
What about you guys? What would you like to do in the future? Is it hard or easy for you to trust God with your dreams?

“NEW” MEMORY VERSE

Hebrews 4:12Book Library

“For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Our newest memory verse at Reality Check comes from a section of Hebrews where the author is telling his readers that they can rest in God.  They can trust God’s promises.  They can trust God’s plan.  It is in this part of Hebrews that we find Hebrews 4:12.  This is a great reminder that we can trust in God and His word.  As we study His word we are not just reading a normal book.  We are reading His words!  That is amazing.  Even though Motor Trend, Car & Driver or Motor Week are all good, they do not compare to the Bible.  God’s word is powerful and will guide and direct us in all parts of life.

PS – you can find all of our current memory verses at the top of the page in the tab labeled “Memory Verses”
