March Memory Verse

It is already time to begin working on a new verse.  Can you believe we have already been working on 3 verses this year?  My hope is that by moving slowly and memorizing one a month that we will all store up these verses in our hearts and will never forget them.

Romans 10:13

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

LIFE CHOICES

This Wednesday @ 6:45

We will talking about Family Issues this Wednesday in a series called “LIFE CHOICES”.  This teaching series is used in conjunction with the movie To Save A Life.  By using this powerful movie we are able to look at choices that we make each day in a stronger and deeper way.  So join us this Wednesday as we look at how we handle the choices we make with our family and look to the Bible for God’s wisdom in making wise choices in the future.

WHAT IS UP WITH SISTERS?

I have 3 sisters and 1 brother.  3 sisters! do you feel my pain?  Sisters are crazy creatures.  It was once said by Mason that sisters are not even girls.  All three of my sisters were very different.  They all liked different things and had different personalities.  It did not seem to matter what we were doing one of them did not like what I was doing.  There were times, a lot of times, when I wished I did not have any sisters at all.  They always seemed to be mad at me or getting me into trouble (it was never my fault).

As I get older (just a little bit), I now realize how important my entire family was in forming me into who I am today.  Can you see how your family is forming you?  Our families are very important.  Even sisters.  I just finished reading the book, “Faith Begins at Home” by Mark Holmen and was reminded again that our faith is very strongly influenced by what happens at home.  Is your faith encouraged or discouraged in your home?  I hope that a love for God is encouraged, but there is a good chance it is rarely talked about and maybe even discouraged.

I write this to encourage you.  I want to encourage you to understand the importance of your family.  It is important for you AND for them.  Even though you might not be a mom or a dad yet – living out your faith at home will make a BIG impact.  When Jesus summed up the entire law by saying Love God with all of who you are and love your neighbor as yourself he was telling us what faith in God looks like.  I encourage you to live out your faith in your home in such a way that others see your love for God and your love for them.

Memory Verses

I was looking at the memory verses today and was very excited to see that we are making progress.  I am glad we have memorized what we have, but I also want to memorize more.  For this to happen we will all need to be working on our verses on our own.  I just wanted to remind you that they can be found right here on the blog.  All you have to do is click on the tab titled “Memory Verses” and you will see all of the ones we are working on at this time.

Don’t get frustrated if you find it difficult to memorize, just take time to look at them every day and you will begin to find it easier every day to repeat them.  Enjoy – and have fun memorizing the truth of God to take with you at all times in life!

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
1 John 3:1
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!  The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”
Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
2 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Isaiah 6:8
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom Shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Jeremiah 33:3

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

Should We Go To McDonalds?

I think McDoanlds is great!  The McDouble for $1 is really good and if you combine that with some of the best fries and by far the best Coke around then you have a great meal.  We all have our own opinions about McDonalds, and rightly so, but I was noticing that the book of Hebrews encourages me to go to McDonalds.

Hebrews 10:23-25 says that we should hold tightly to our hope that we have in God and that we should continue to encourage one another and lift one another up and don’t forget to keep meeting together.  It never mentions McDonalds by name, but it does say that we need to be people who build those up around us.  If I could pick a perfect schedule for every day I would include some time at a coffee shop.  I like coffee, but I especially like the atmosphere.  A coffee shop is usually quiet, has good seating and decorations.  I would have some time alone to read both the Bible and a good book AND I would include some time to meet with people and just talk about life and encourage one another.

How about you?  How do you like to encourage others and lift them up?  Where do you like to go?  Is it at your own home?  I want to encourage you to follow what it says in the book of Hebrews and encourage those around you at all times.  Also, be intentional and set aside times to meet with people and develop that relationship that is a great lift to the week.
